Yes, the worst quake in U.S. history was exactly 200 years ago but it was along the Missippi in the then, Louisiana Territory. It IS likely to occur again with ferocity but as PTMG said, maybe tomorrow, maybe in 100 years, but it will happen in the vicinity of Memphis and St. Louis, far, far away.
All we have is a piddling little fault known as the Ramapo Fault which breaks the occasional dish with a 3.0 on the Richter.
A bigger worry living in a Newport apartment is freezing to death or having your bank account attached by PSE&G.
