If I have to be REALLY honest, I admit that I was FAR more upset (in fact really upset) to hear that Mitch Hedberg had died - the funniest guy ever to walk the earth. I had nothing against the Pope (excpet his unwillingness to speak out against child abuse amongst priests and forbidding the use of condoms in a world ravaged by AIDS - so in fact, quite a lot, actually!) but what did he ever do for me?
I listened to Mitch Hedburg on CD for the first time last year at a time when I was inconsolable with depression - and I laughed so hard I nearly choked. I was still laughing the next day and had forgotton all about the things that were getting me down. I think Mitch probably brought more joy into people's lives than any religious leader ever could.
So RIP the Pope
and an even bigger RIP to Mitch Hedberg (who died in Jersey by the way)
