Hi, everyone, it's my first post. Greetings.

I just have a very bad experience with Alternation to Go, the dry cleaner in Jersey City. They damaged two of my dress shirts then alleged to reimburse me if I send them receipts for new ones. Then I sent them receipts as instructed. But more than two months passed they never send me reimbursed check.

In between I called a lot of times and the owner (now I know her name is Terry Berger) always provided excuses such as she was busy; she was going to call me back; or just told a flat lie that she has already sent the check. The truth is she never called me back and she never sent the check.

Just remind everyone here. BTW, any suggestion how I can proceed to solve this?

1. take a day off from work

2. stand outside their store the whole day

3. tell people passing by how they ruined your clothes, promised to reimburse and never did

4. next time get it in writing :)

Sorry to hear that. I have given up on almost all dry cleaners in Jersey City. Their bad service has cost me dearly. There is one in Teaneck I think is better. They used to pick up from Newport. Thanks to casual dress policy, I now don't have to worry about dry cleaning anymore. The only bad thing is that I have a closet full of suits I don't need now.

I would consider calling the

Hudson County Consumer Affairs
595 Newark Avenue, 4th Floor, Room 407
Jersey City, New Jersey 07306
201-795-6295

they should take your complaint over the phone and may be able to help you resolve it to your satisfaction. you are entitled to compensation and the merchant is in the wrong in this case.
