In a few hours the Summer Olympics will open with all its pomp and circumstance, which to me is always exciting and moving. Will any of you be following the games?

I always try and watch some of the Olympics, but there is so much on it's hard to keep up with all. Inevitably I follow the sports I play or watch, and of course any British successes. And thee is also the near certainty of some obscure sport where some equally obscure athlete captures our imagination

I'm really pleased for Greece that the Olympics are happening there. I hope it goes smoothly. Greece is really on a sporting roll after wining the European soccer championship. I also hope it gives Athens as a city as much of a boost as the Olympics did for Barcelona and Sydney.

Tara,

The US women's swim team took the silver this evening. They came in a close second to the Aussies, who took the gold. Germany took the bronze. What do you think of the greek Olympic head-dresses? :D
