I thought I should start this up with some spice... I'd like to quote someone else for my message and modify it a bit.
'I am completely against a "LIFESTYLES" forum. Its bad enough that you health freaks only hang out with other healthy people, but why do we need to perpetuate it online. If they like to be with their own kind so much, why not go back to the GYM!!
The whole point of these forums is to bring people together and not separate them into their own enclaves.'

LostinLaMancha, I'm not going for or against this Lifestyles or any other forum. I believe soon or later the forum will dead if there isn't a need for it. I'm simply just annoyed by Punjabi's immature. See this thread if you wanna know what I'm talking about: http://www.newportwaterfrontassociation.org/vb/files/forum/showthread.php?t=48

Hi Scott,
Not disagreeing with you, Just saying that Sonia opened the Hornet's nest ( Hope that is the right expression) Or Pandora's box of troubles when she created a life Styles forum. Not sure what the desperate need of the moment was. We did not have enough posts on this topic on the older forum itself.

With singles forum, it is different. We have enough singles ( not me though) and we had poor chaps like "need a friend" desperately looking for something for themselves.
Again, Not sure why Parent's forum was required. No one bothered posting there.
Forums would be useful when you monitor privileges (or priviledges, as Katie Scarlett would say ). But for everything else, you should be pretty good with a single forum. That way maximum number of people can participate without have to go from one Forum to Another

Scott,
You've lost your sense of humor in your old age. Look deeper than the words my friend, creativity isn't just for 1st graders, and digging deeper isn't only what we do in poetry classes.
The concept is the same. Its an issue of identity. Some include being Single in it, others include Nationality and Ethnicity and Class and Gender and Age or other arbitrary things as Golfers, Art and Wine Connoisseurs. Some are temporary and some are indispensable. We shouldn't have to hide or not discuss certain parts of our identity because others can't identify with it. Instead of conflict with the community at large, these groups should be given separate forums where they can discuss issues important to them.
Singles discuss singles things, Health people discuss health things. I see nothing wrong with any forum as long as it is not disrespectful to others and has a following.

And I thought this forum was about health and fitness...but, it's more like stress recreation.
Maybe we should turn it into a "Games" forum, games people play, card games, cyber games... Anyone else have any ideas?
Cause it looks like health and fitness is going to the dogs!

But you must agree that letting out your anger is a way of relieving stress!
So this forum, or this thread, indeed served its purpose of leading people to a better health.
Nonetheless, I think we should keep all these stress-coping topics in this thread, and leave the rest of the space to people who really want to talk about health, fitness, or other lifestyle-related topics.

To LLM:
Why do you argue that a Health/Fitness forum is unnecessary and yet you have not complained about the Kids Forum and Parenting Forum (both of which existed since the very beginning of this board and both of which still remain empty)?

I suspect the new board isn't meeting the quota for complaints. We have to take the complaints any way we can get them these days.

Well, I am going to discuss my fitness and health issues. I want to lose some weight but I have no intention of starting a drastic diet. I am going to try to focus on exercising. My goal is to lose some weight and fit into some of my clothes. If I ever figure out how to post a photo, maybe I can start a before/after pic section. I will post my progress and will need all the moral support possible. I can be a major flake when it comes to exercising.

I think I mentioned in one of my posts that Parents forum is going nowhere.
About the kids forum, I think Tara has been lurking around, but hasn't posted anthing yet. Its justa matter of time that you'd see stuff there

hmmm. A couple of months ago, a friend of mine decided to go on a diet plan. She decided she couldn't do it herself, and needed someone to assist her. She joined LA Weight Loss ( located next to A & P ). She spent about a thousand dollars for joining the programme for a year. I tried explaining to her that it was a waste of money, but she wouldn't listen to me. However, she has done very well for herself. She has lost about 4 pounds in the last 8 months.

You have such a bad attitude.
Why not drop the condescending overtones?
Or at least explain why you think you're better than everyone else? That would at least be entertaining!

What ultimately happened did prove my point. Programs such as these are meant to extract money out of people. Why do you think I have a bad attitude? Or are you saying that one should always be sweet though the truth might be bitter

it was supposed to be s u c k money... but somehow the program doesn't like the word s uck. I think its the bad word dectect installed by Prashant, but a word is probably bad depending upon the usage.

Oh I totally agree with you regarding the fad diet industry. Many vulnerable people dump a lot of money and hope only to emerge disappointed and poorer.
Bottom line: There is no miracle pill/plan/diet/etc.

Well I was never planning on going on a diet. I just want to be more consistent with an exercise program. The truth is that I am a yo-yo exerciser not a yo-yo dieter. Usually I try to take an exercise class at NJCU (ex. karate, fencing, step aerobics, cardio). Since its a class, I feel compelled to go because I don't like to get an F in anything.
