It looks like the former City Council President has entered a plea of Not Guilty in the corruption charges filed against him by the feds, Here's a newspaper article from the Jersey Journal:
Jersey City Councilman Mariano Vega pleads not guilty to corruption charges

Jersey City Councilman Mariano Vega pleaded not guilty to federal corruption charges in U.S. District Court today.
Jersey City Councilman Mariano Vega today pleaded not guilty to charges he accepted bribes from a federal informant and lied to the FBI.
Vega is accused of accepting $30,000 from FBI informant Solomon Dwek, a failed Monmouth County developer, in exchange for helping Dwek secure development approvals.
He is also charged with lying to the FBI for saying he did not know Dwek.
He appeared before U.S. District Judge Jose L. Linares in Newark.
Vega is one of the 44 individuals arrested July 23 in a massive federal political corruption and money laundering sting.
Vega, director of the county Department of Parks, Engineering and Planning, was suspended from that job following his arrest.
