Sounds cool. Maybe it will actually motivate me to exercise.

Okay, I'll add my name to the list. We can talk about the Newport Health Club -- I think there's a problem with overcrowding, especially on weekends. Anyone else use this facility?

I got really sick after swimming in that disgusting swimming pool.
Since then, I cancelled my membership and bought an elliptical machine + weight + exercise ball at home instead.

I've heard some horror stories about that pool. It would appear to be a bad place to swim. Jacfield, I hope you complained to their management.
I will also vote in favor of a fitness forum. I think there's alot we can discuss concerning this topic.

I am originally from Jersey City and I am not aware of any school behind the mall that has a pool. The only schools behind the mall are St. Anthony's High School, Cordero School (P.S.#37) and the Golden Gate Charter School. The schools in the downtown area that have a pool are James J. Ferris High School and P.S.#16. I also think that McNair Academic High School may have a pool but I am not positive about that.
Question: What are some of the horror stories about the Newport Swim and Fitness swimming pool? I am not a member but have considered joining in the fall anticipating that they may increase their membership fees after the renovations are completed.

there's a charter school on 9th st. -- that's the one i'm talking about, you can't miss it since the building's very obvious. sorry, schools aren't my forte so i wouldn't know its name or anything else about it. there's a pool, it's quite nice, and it's open to the public outside of school hours if i remember correctly.

I got a mysterious infection and high fever (104F) after swimming there....and had a nice stay in the hospital for a few days.
i consider myself healthy ....and certainly don't have a history of "mysterious infections"!?
But it migth isolated cases....I don t know, but I don't like the experience of having IV all the time, and I won't risk it again by swimming there. Besides, it's way overcrowded, decent machines, and for the price they're charging, it's just not worth it.
Oh, but I do support a fitness forum

Thats the one across from the Lincoln. Thanks for the info Anita. Didn't know they had a pool and more importantly it was open to the public. Will check it out this weekend and post a review.
