It looks like Senator McCain has choosen Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin for his VP mate, also demonstrating he can be an agent for change. Alaska is very big on energy issues, especially off-shore oil drilling. Smart move, see article below:

McCain Picks Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate
By LIZ SIDOTI, AP

(Aug. 29) -- John McCain tapped little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate, two senior campaign officials told The Associated Press on Friday. A formal announcement was expected within a few hours at a campaign rally in swing-state Ohio.

Palin, 44, is a self-styled hockey mom and political reformer who has been governor of her state less than two years. Palin's selection was a stunning surprise, as McCain passed over many other better known prospects, some of whom had been the subject of intense speculation for weeks or months.

At 44, she is a generation younger that Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, who is Barack Obama's running mate on the Democratic ticket.

She is three years Obama's junior, as well — and McCain has made much in recent weeks of Obama's relative lack of experience in foreign policy and defense matters.

Palin flew overnight to an airport in Ohio near Dayton, and even as she awaited her formal introduction, close aides said they had believed she was at home in Alaska.

She is a former mayor of Wasilla who became governor of her state in 2006 after ousting a governor of her own party in a primary and then dispatching a former governor in the general election.

With an announcement scheduled in Dayton, Ohio, an associate of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said the governor had been informed he is not McCain's pick.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak for Pawlenty, who had all but ruled himself out.

She's no Hillary Clinton - no matter how she tries ... Atleast Hillary had the spine to stand for President and compete. Palin is just McCain's shadow ...

She's the kind of woman Republicans like, but wait and see, she may surprise everyone. Hillary's resilence and strength of character developed over time.

She needs to stand for something not just make caustic remarks. That's not class. And that's not mature or professional. People vote for leaders who can represent them and their issues. This is all a smoke screen so far. They need to show substance in tackling issues and being able to stick to their word.

Do you want THIS for your vice-president, a heartbeat away from a man with 4 bouts with metastatic malignant melanoma?

Thanks for sharing.

Weird thing ... she is questioned on not having enough foreign policy experience. To me it seems she isn't even in touch with American policy or American demographics! She is all Alaska only.

Truly insulting to intelligent women everywhere. Do they really think intelligent women can't think and would simply pick a woman because she is a woman??!! Do we really not know how to figure out what is and is not good for the nation? How are the sentiments Palin expresses not sexist AND unintelligent in assuming women will simply go with her because she is 'one of them' ?! OOOOOPS! ;)
