So I've been paying attention to the Chase for the Nextel Cup this year. I never payed much attention to auto racing before but I enjoy watching it now. Does anyone know how the point system works and how heavy does it way on the Chase for The Cup?

Basically, as you race throughout the season, you are racing to qualify to be in the top 10 for the last 10 races in order to eligible to win the Nextel Cup. It's the last 10 races that will determine the winner among the top 10. If you didn't qualify for the top 10 and happen to win all 10 of the final races, you still don't win the Nextel Cup.

Does anybody know what happened at the Atlanta race. I was watching NFL on CBS and missed the whole race. I caught the tail end of it so I know Jimmy Johnson's team won but I noticed some kind of mourning of a death. What was that?
