When I moved to Newport from Manhattan I used West Side Movers. They were excellent--reasonably priced and entirely professional. 212-874-3800
Good luck!

We used Flat Rate Movers to move from Manhattan to here. I was happy with their service.

Can't make a referral, but can say DONT use All Ship Moving.
Horrible, horrible experience. They majorly low ball their quotes.

If you only need help to load/unload the heavy stuff and you are doing packing/unpacking/driving yourself, I suggest going to http://www.emove.com/ and getting moving help there. It can turn out cheaper than regular movers and I had good experience through emove.com.

I just moved here in March and I can recommend an excellent moving company. These guys were right on time (in fact 10mins early) to my scheduled Saturday move. They brought one moving truck that was quite large (I'm a single guy, but this truck would have been enough to move a small family). They loaded my entire bedroom and living room in about 45mins, and within another hour everything was in my new place, all I had to do was unpack.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the cost: $300 even...the price should only vary based on amount of stuff you have to move and the distance involved. I'll leave you their contact info, though you will likely need someone that speaks Mandarin to setup the moving details (I personally do not speak it, but a friend of mine helped me). These guys are located in Brooklyn, but they were fine with coming to NJ. Give them a call for an estimate:

I had a good experience with WHITE GLOVE - on time, thorough and VERY fast with no damages (done in 3hrs)! Competitive too - if willing to tip well, the foreman will "work with you" to defer any extra charges like boxes, packing supplies, etc.

Thank you guys.
I hope to be able to use one of the recommended movers for a Manhattan move soon.
That $300 sure sounds appealing.
