View Full Version : NTC Phone Problems

Yesterday afternoon we noticed that our NTC landline was not reachable. As soon as one calls the number there's a blip of a ring tone and then dead air. We started unplugging things and found that a basic phone and answering machine are ok but as soon as we plug in the PC modem or the TiVo or an older cordless phone then the problem occurs.

All of these devices can make outbound calls but as soon as any one of them is plugged into the line then nothing rings.

Could all of them have been damaged within the last few days by lightening or some sort of surge? Is anyone else having a problem?

Everything has been stable since we first moved in three years ago (Riverside building, mid-floor). No phone devices added, removed or changed in the last year at least.

Any ideas?

Be grateful you don't need a string and two tin cans.

Why anyone would pay the exorbitant phone rates of NTC is beyond me.

Why anyone would pay the exorbitant phone rates of NTC is beyond me.I get unlimited local service for $21/month including all taxes. Is anyone else that much cheaper?
