I am wondering what kind of good delivery food is around newport that we can order from?
The Confucious is just too pricy for what they deliver. And that is no way in the world i am ordering from SENHAI the menu spammer.
I am also very dissapointed with the psuedo japanese food from jc/hoboken, they are all just another flavor of poorly cooked chinese food.
what is going on with that?
Most of the chinese food I have ordered from around here are just terrible.
If they open and sell this kind of food in china, I think they would be sentenced to 4 years in labor camp or something.

I was just thinking of posting this same question yesterday when I was sorting through my stack of menus. I also would never order from Sen-Hai because of their menu abuse. (Maybe a year or two in a re-education camp would be good for their marketing department).
I have ordered from Big Chef a few times, but not for a long time. The dumplings are too thick and dough-y.
I ended up ordering from Rice in Hoboken. The pork dumplings were disappointing--flavorless. I ordered noodles (lo mein with chicken) which were ok, but nothing special. I think I will try someplace else next time.
I look forward to hearing other opinions.

i have ordered from "future" in jersey city a zillion times
its chinese -mex
so i get one or two tostada salads and then a little chinese on the side
i think the dumplings they have chicken dumplings that are good ,sigapore mei fun.....are very good
mu shu is excellent and the crapes are generic but the thinnest i have ever seen they hang tough despite being whisper thin
one last thing
the tostada salads are boderline healthy as long as you dont go anywhere near the oil laded fried shell
that thing goes straight into the garbage

I did order from DJs several times and liked them well. I can't remember what put me off them, but I haven't ordered from them in some time and it may be time to try again.
Under the door yesterday were two menus from Istana in Hoboken--one for Japanese food and one for Chinese food. Has anyone tried them? It's hard for me to imagine they would be good at both.

I will never order from a place that slides menus under my door.....it irks me to no end to come home and find them on my floor.
Confucious, by far, is my favorite Chinese food place. The food is delicious and their delivery is super fast. I have never ever had a problem with them.

Don't know about Chinese, but I've heard about 7 people say the Japanese food at Maru of Hoboken is the best in the tri-state area excepting a few ultra-expensive Manhattan places. (I can't offer my own opinion-- my palate never grew sophisticated enough to comment with authority on dishes other than spaghetti & meatballs, hamburger deluxe platters, etc,., But these folks whose opinions I relay here are true sophisticates).

Precious in Hoboken is a really good Chinese restaurant. Trust me. Once you eat there, you don't want to go to Confucius. ;)

Precious delivers as well. (I'm not sure whether they deliver to Newport though..)
To see the menus and the phone number of the restaurant, please visit

Here, you can also see other Hoboken Chinese restaurants' menus, but I don't like any others except Precious.

Confucius is somewhat pricey, but I get 2 meals out of each entree. And they are indeed lightning fast.

confucius makes the best shrimp fried rice. if it's chinese, we usually go with confucius.
djgarden, i think was way too greasy.
hoboken cottage's hot and sour soup had chicken pieces in it. GROSS, huh? i think they threw in people's leftovers and heated that up.
