Hi,
I heard from my neighbor that James Monroe building is not related to the newport mgmt. Honestly, I was thinking about moving out of newport and go back to manhattan because of their(mgmt's) service and their treatment.. However even I don't like the mgmt, I do love newport area itself and many of my friends live in newport so this news was very interesting to me.
Anyways, do they rent their units in James Monroe? How much is the rent usually run for the 2 BD apts? Do they just have W/D units on the 1st floor? Any roach problems from that building?
Thanks ahead, and have a nice weekend!
JM is a condo not managed by LeFrak management, some units are for rent by the owner/investors, check the bulletin board in the JM building, 2washers/2dryers are on every floor, duplex units on the upper floors have their own washer/dryers. I've never had any roach or any other type of pest problem in the 15 years I've lived there.

James Monroe is a condominium and is not managed by the Lefrak people.
It is a very well maintained bldg. Apartments are well kept and do not have any roach problems.
I have lived here for 8+ years and can only compliment management and the board for doing such a great job.
Yes, there are a few units for rent by their owners. More info can be found on the BB in the bldg.
There is a laundry room on every floor (with 2 each W and D) which is a huge benefit!
If you moved in here, you would definitely like it! :)

The James Monroe is the best choice for a renter at Newport. It's the only building with masonry walls between apartements and thus the only building where you can't hear your neighbor fart! Washer/Dryers on each floor is a nice convenience.
Cost is approximately the same to rent from an owner as it is to rent from Lefrak for a comparably sized unit in TOA or Presidential Plaza.

I lived in a large 3 bedroom apartment in james Monroe back in 2001-2002. It is probably the best option at Newport. Very well maintained and very helpful staff. You would have to pay $500 for moving in and $500 for moving out ($300 over the weekdays) though, which might affect your budget in the short run. But well worth it if you want to live there for an extended period of time.
