I received this flyer notice (after PO Reillys Thursday email)from our Harsimus Cove Association of which I am a member, and Valerio is super about getting out soon as he receives. This one sent at 1:50PM Friday for the Monday meeting.Curious about who will show, what Wards, constituencies, etc, as very little notice about this meeting (only notification since 11:30AM yesterday).
Also, seems there is a Tuesday mtg. for Ward F unannounced, same time and location; why the under the radar treatment for Viola Richardson's Ward F constituents?
JCGA will be there at both meetings to ask the simple question: "How might the JCGA work with the JCPD in relaying or coordinating the info they gather while on street patrols?" They are not thugs or vigilantes in the street but additional eyes and ears for an underfunded Police Dept. that Captain McDonough of the East District Command (6 zones) says only permits from 9 to 12 officers to cover the entire area on night shift.
Worth coming to to ask some serious questions which I hope all will try to come as those who did for the JCGA meeting, last week or even more !

Where is 107 Bright street located? Is it nearby, in downtown JC?

Tara,
It's not far, near Van Vorst park, but parking is not good. I would suggest you take a cab or public transportation instead of trying to find a parking space in that area.
I'm unable to attend, but it does look like someone from the association should be there, and report back.

If you live at Newport take the Path to Grove St. Bright St. is not too far from there.

Hi Jeremy,
I couldn't make it to the meeting last night, but it doesn't look like much was missed. I found the following article on the nj.com web site.
From the Jersey Journal:
'Town hall' JCPD meeting a bust
Residents were less than impressed with last night’s Jersey City Police Department presentation at Middle School 4, which had been billed as a town hall-style meeting.
At the event organized by Police Chief Robert Troy and deemed “A New Day,” Chief of Staff Lt. Tom Comey announced several new department intiatives and gave a commitment to work with the public in reporting and preventing crimes.
But those residents who'd made the effort to attend the event weren't allowed to ask questions.
Comey announced a new Web site; a Burglary Intelligence Unit; expanded bicycle and foot patrols; the addition of three more closed-circuit TV cameras, and the hiring of 44 new officers, bringing the force to 871 officers by April.
The department patted itself on the back for its gun buyback program and pledged to have COMPSTAT, a computer system that maps crime statistics, up and running shortly.
But the hour-and-a-half-long show left residents with more questions than answers.
“How much of our tax dollars were spent on this fluff?” resident Farah Nuradeen asked a city spokesman afterward since she wasn't allowed to speak at the meeting. “Instead of marching themselves up and down these stairs, why don’t they march themselves right over to Wayne (Street) and Jersey (Avenue) where everyone knows drug dealing is going on?”
The spokesman, Stan Eason, told Nuradeen and other women who had gathered around him after the meeting that the event was intended to be celebratory, comparable to the unveiling of a new car.
