Hi Sonia and Prashant,

I was just looking back at the old board and I realize that there's lots of information, and historic background about the day-to-day issues of the Newport Community, and I was wondering if it is possible to save whatever is on the board as of the closing date you guys have established in November?

In other words, some way that people could still have access to the old threads, but not be able to post anyting additional to them.

Otherwise, I think people who've already typed out their responses to questions in the past like "Do you have renters insurance and how much did it cost?" or "What dentist do you recommend in the area?" or "Where can I get a decent haircut around here?" will likely be too fed up to write another reply and just won't bother to answer.

Also, as we've dealt with the heating bill issues, the Internet/DSL issues, parking, etc. over the past year or so, there's a lot of our history there that could still be useful to people if they need supporting documentation to make a case to management or NTC or whoever else.

Is there any way it can be saved and stored so we can still get to it after November?

Thanks.

I know Prashant was looking at it, and remember something being said by Sonia but can't recall if it was a maybe or a no. I hope we can keep them archived somehow, you're right there's some useful stuff. i haven't used a takeaway service yet, but the day I do I'll want to scour the archives for the best option!

Hi Mia,

I understand from Prashant that transfering all our data from the old board is a very complicated matter, requiring the creation of several templates. We know, however, that some of the data has historical significance, and records info we can still use, such as concerning the heating issue. Consequently, I am reviewing all the threads to determine which ones we should discard. There are thousands of threads, so this process will take a while. If you know of threads, you think we should keep, let us know. Every thread has a number that may be seen in the title bar, let us know the number, and we will try to save that thread. :)
