Will we need to wear name tags at this shindig?
Edit: Wait a second, I can't vote. Why on earth should I have to meet these retards?
Is anybody from Lefrak going to be at the event?

Why should you be there, let me state a few reasons:
1. If you park your car in a Newport garage or on the street, you should be there.
2. If you need better garbage disposal around your building, or you see (god forbid!) mice or roaches attracted to the garbage bins, you should be there.
3. If you think you need more police security in your neighborhood, or by the Mall or PATH station, please be there.
4. If the streets in your neighborhood need repairs, or signage (such as speed limit or STOP signs), or traffic lights, make sure you're there.
5. If you want to make certain that the city budget includes funds allocated for services for your neighborhood, plan to be there.
6. If you think you may have heating problems this winter, you should be there.
7. Or, If you want to send a message to the Candidates that you will hold them accountable for poor services or spending habits, definitely be there.
We are expecting all the major Mayoral Candidates to attend, and will have more information next week with regard to Congressional and Presidential Candidates.
For security reasons, we are requesting you show ID at the door.
Mia,
This is a special meeting for the purpose of engaging the Candidates in a Q & A, but we are extending an invitation to Lefrak management and staff to attend because we believe they too would like to meet the Candidates.
Pacific Blues,
Seattle Roasters is providing the refreshments, like in the past, I presume they'll have yummy cookies there.

"If the streets in your neighborhood need repairs"
Are there any streets in JC that don't need repair? I took a car service home the other night and driver had to go about 10 mph in order to avoid the potholes and "patches" on Marin Blvd. I guess I'm used to it by now and it doesn't faze me, but the roads are in crazy shape around here. :(

Sonia,
Thanks for organizing a meeting.
Can you get a commitment from Lefrak that if they come to it that they will stay for 45-60 minutes for questions from their tenants?
I agree that it's valuable to see the candidates up close, but honestly, I was hoping this would be a meeting for tenants to talk with Management about our concerns.
The politicians on the 28th will most likely promise us the sun, moon and stars and beat up on each other, and any impact on our lives will not been seen for a long time.
It's the Lefrak people I hold accountable for day-to-day problems like:
1) Poor quality of service from the rental office
2) The abysmal Internet connection problems with NTC, and the fact that there's no alternative for the Lincoln, unlike you lucky guys on the waterfront who can kick them to the curb when Comcast comes in
3) Heating issues
4) The overall I-could-care-less-where-else-you-gonna-go-live attitude that they display to their clients
We can't let them get away with just showing up to gladhand the pols while the concerned citizenry is forced to try to corner them somewhere and demand answers. It's much better if they're up at a mike, facing a group of us in public, where they'll have to reply "on the record". On that subject, do you know will anyone from any of the local papers be present?

Mia,
This is a special meeting to Meet the Candidates who are running for office, and will be on the ballot in this November's election. Although we can't guarantee they'll be there, the press has been invited. We already have RSVP yes from several Mayoral and Congressional Candidates, and simply not enough time to put the landlord on the agenda.
We will hold a more general meeting in the near future, and at that time we can schedule an agenda, which includes the Lefrak organization, for a Q & A regarding tenants concerns, but the Oct 28th meeting is not organized for that purpose. Rather, we hope to introduce ourselves and our concerns to the Candidates, and learn their positions on the issues that affect our lives. We recognize that there may come a time when we may need to reach out to them to help us resolve matters that affect this community, and hope this meeting will help us open a line of communication.
As far as NWA is concerned, this is a meeting for all the members of our community, which consists of all the people who live and work in the area, including the people who work for the Lefrak organization, and the Lefrak family members who own property here.

I have two questions for the candidates:
1. Who among them, as mayor, would be willing to read, make public, and then review ALL quality-of-life related ordinances, with the aim of either amending, abolishing, or effectively enforcing them after a three-month period of sufficient discussions at townwide meetings, open to the residents for comments, advice, and recommendations?
2. Who among them, as mayor, would submit the city to and make public the results of simultaneous independent audits of the city treasury and every city agency and director?
