View Full Version : These Apartments Are Like Project Housing

Excuse my negativity, I've had a bad day and this is my outlet.

But it's just occured to me that a lot of these apartments (I live in the GW) are really of project quality and should be cheaper. For instance, in my apartment, the walls and doors are so thin, when I'm in my bedroom, and my roommate is on the telephone at the other end of the apartment, I can hear his voice with NO loss of quality of sound, which is a sure sign of thin walls. Every other apartment I've lived in, even if someone was speaking right outside my door, there would be considerable muffling. It's like the apartments are constructed with cardboard.

Also, the paint jobs are very consistant with project housing, it's like they got a bunch of schoolkids in to do it. Paint is slapped on, there is paint on the floor, on the window frames.

The windows are filthy, very rarely cleaned (it's been over 2 years I think) and not only that, they have condensation INSIDE the panes(impossible to remove) and some are cloudy inside the panes. What's the point of spectacular views if you can't see them?

The doors have a big gap between them and the floor, and there are no draught excluders.

Basically, I've lived in 60s and 70s project housing in Manhattan before for much cheaper and the apartments are of the same quality. Makes me wonder what the hell I'm doing here.

Also, with the numebr of complaints I regularly hear about the incompetance and lack of help from the management, could Lefrak be described as a slumlord? The amount of money that guy has, the least he could do would be to put a bit more effort into making the place livable. The apartments are more expensive than most places in Jersey (and some in Manhattan) so shouldn't we expect higher standards?
