So did everyone watch football this weekend (the American kind)? I'm a real Eagles fan, and boy did I have fun hanging out in a bar in Hoboken that catered to us Eagles fans.

It was great. Unfortunately my favorite team (Dallas Cowboys) got their butt kicked by the Vikings. The Eagles game was indeed a lot of fun, a buddy of mine is a huge Eagles fan. We watched the game at Blondie's on the Upper West Side. They have great wings and cheesesteaks...

My prediction for Super Bowl: New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles

I really hate to say it, but Patriots to win.

Well the mighty Arse are comfortably top of the Premiership and the USA got SLAUGHTERED by the Australians at cricket - I just subscribed to Fox Sports World and its got excellent British sports coverage. I always used to follow the 49ers in American football in the Montana/Rice era, but it seems a bit disloyal backing a West Coast team.

What's a cheesesteak?

What's a cheesesteak?

Arguably one the best, worst foods you can eat. Actually it's not entirely bad. There is protein afterall. It varies from place to place, but basically it's thin slices of beef on a hero/hoagie/sub bread. It's topped with cheese (Cheez Whiz or Provolone - I prefer provolone), also comes with sauteed (sp?) onions. Others include mushrooms, sweet peppers. It's a nice messy sandwich. At Blondie's, for the "healthy" one's, they offer a chicken cheesesteak.

You may have heard them called Philly Cheesesteaks, no? If you're near Murray Hill in the city, you should try Carl's Cheesesteak on 34th and 3rd. Man-o-man! When you order there, say "with or without (meaning onions)," "whiz or provolone", then any extras. You should be set! Enjoy!! Just make sure you are near a hospital should that coronary happen after eating the sandwich.

Yay! A fellow Eagle fanatic. The Sunday game was awesome. Probably the best all around game the Eagles have played the last few years. Now I am excited. I was a little skeptical before the season started, but that was short-lived :D . Need to work on their run-defense, but its just week 1. Can't wait for next Monday night.

Maybe I'll pony up the money and get the NFL Sunday Ticket, so I can watch all their games.

Katie, have you been to the new Lincoln Fin. field? I miss the Vet. Spent most of my grad. school summer watching the Phillies from the bleachers and winter bundled up watching the Eagles!

Go Iggles!!!

Don't feel disloyal Nic, Support those 9ers, I still do, even when they ****. It's kinda like Liverpool. I still support um, even though they've been getting stomped the last few years.

I'm just waiting for Ian Rush to return.... when I was 8, he was a maniac. *sigh*

Bizarre, isn't it, I mean how would you describe what you do with a lollipop? Or what... no, I won't go there. Fortunately I suspect a lot of English cusses will not get picked up. Here goes: Bollocks! ********s! Sweet Fanny Adams! Shag!

I'm tempted to become a Giants fan, just to wind up @@di and Katie.

Please do Nic. Katie and I will have great fun at your expense, at least this season :) . Thats the good thing about the NFL, fortunes for teams do change, unlike baseball. Yankees Yankees Yankess..boring.

yes, the gunners are so good this year that they no longer need to score their own goals ;)

The Mighty Arse are so good that opponents put the goal in their own net just so they can concentrate on watching the mesmerising artistry on display.

ok, i reckon we need a 'mighty arse' thread since this no longer has anything to do with the nfl whatsoever ;)

I haven't been to the Link yet. I used to go to the Vet frequently. I liked the dillapidated old thing. Oh well. . .
McMahon's Brownstone Alehouse on 11th & Willow in Hoboken does Eagles Specials - we have a TV dedicated to the Eagles w/volume. Every time we score a TD we get free drinks (if you're wearing a jersey), AND, you get to watch with a bunch of other fans. The tv's are small (30 inches), but we can sit close enough it doesn't matter. A bunch of Eagles fans are planning to be there every week! Plus, every TD we sing the Fight Song! What more can you ask for (other than being at the game of course).

This week is going to be a test for our D, but I really like the McNabb/Owens show and hope that that continues.
