I am going to try to keep this thread alive. It seems that most of the children go to the River School. I was wondering if the parents whose children attend the River School are happy with the school. I would also like to know how many parents are interested in sending their children to the Cornerstone School after they graduate from the River School.

Does anyone knowthe pricing for the River School and/or the Cornerstone school? We're thinking about sending our daughter there instead of the nanny service. Thanks in advance.

The Cornerstone School is from K-8 and the tuition is $7,200 but Newport residents get a 20% deduction that Lefrak offers in the form of a scholarship.

JM Res,
How old is your daughter? What grade is she in? The River School is more like a day care center than a school. Depending on her age, you may want to look into Montessori, which is more of a learning, socialization environment -- not day care.

Thanks for the information folks. Looks like our daughter is too young for the Cornerstone school. The little rug rat turns one this month. :) On a different note, does anyone have any experience with the River School? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

i have a friend whose child goes to river school - i'm sure for a year old baby it's $1000/month or more. i think the rate gets lower as your child turns 18 mos then at 3.5 yrs. child care does not come cheap.

plus you have to supply all the baby wipes, diapers, snacks, milk, etc.

Well, I guess the pricing for the River School is reasonable.. Even at $320/week it's still cheaper than going with a full time nanny. Does anyone know how the school is rated? Any experience with sending your children there? Should I send my daughter in her own little bubble to make sure the other kids won't sneeze/bite/poke/push her? Gosh, if I'm this worry before she turns one... I don't know how I'd react when she turns 16... Better sign up with the NRA and buy that shotgun now before she starts dating. :p

There's a Montessori School in Hoboken, see link below:

The Montessori program is clearly superior to the River School if your child is in nursery school, but the nursery meets for only half the day. If you need a school that is more like a day care center, then you should consider River School. :)

I believe that there is a new Montessori School of Jersey City in the Paulus Hook area. I also see a little yellow bus come to the Thomas Jefferson to pick someone up.
