Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu is a Hawaiian dance troupe, currently appearing at Lincoln Center, presenting a rich blend of traditional and contemporary forms of hula. I had the good fortune of seeing them perform at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, and was impressed by their style, which combines the traditional and modern.
This Sunday and Monday evenings they will be giving a free performance at Lincoln Center's outdoor stage, starting at 8:00 pm. The program is well worth the trip into Manhattan.
